The elegant Avis are a gentle species with as soft manners as they have feathers. Their brilliant plumage is but one reason to love these adorable birds. Equally quick to fly to a picnic as to a friends help when needed.
Avi is one of the 36 species currently available on Ovipets.
Availability[]
Paid users can research this species immediately, but unpaid users must own one before they can begin research. They can either be borrowed or purchased from a friend, or adopted at the Adoption Center. It takes 24 hours to research the species, but you only need to own the Avi to start the research progress. Once researched, an Avi costs 10 credits to generate (decreased to 9 after researching level 2).
Gene research[]
Currently, Avi has five levels of gene research available including the first level which you start out with. Each level unlocks new genes which you can research. Level 5 however only gives you these options:
- Gender splice
- DNA profiling
- Cloning
- Removal Splices
The only time you get mutations in level 5 are the limited mutations which are the Easter, Halloween, and Winter mutations. The times Ovipets gives you with these mutations are the only time you can splice mutations from level 5 into eggs in your hatchery.
Levels 2 through 5 also give bonuses for the species, in addition to the mutations.

Currently, there are 65 permanent mutations available for Avi, with several seasonal mutations available as well. There are 8 mutation loci.

Prices currently have a 30% reduction for both research and splice costs. This stacks with the 10% discount from having level 4 research, to a total of 40% off the splice costs.
